South Africa is known for its beauty and its wildlife and its newest creation in the Table Mountain National Park. Proclaimed in its entirety in 1998 this new park brings a feeling of happiness to those who made the effort to conserve the rich natural and cultural history of this famous cape. Several reserves have been incorporated under the watch of SA National Parks and now the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Table Mountain Nature Reserve and Silvermine Nature Reserve as well as the Boulders Beach Penguin Colony are all administered by the SA National Parks groups.

The Table Mountain National Park is located on the Cape Peninsula which is the thin finger of land in the south western corner of Africa. Cape Town is at the head of the peninsula and as you travel south towards Cape Point the land gets narrower until it sinks into the ocean and at that point there is nothing beyond except Antarctica.

The Wildlife
The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve is perfect for spotting beautiful brown and white bontebok antelopes as well as tortoises and ostriches, and it’s wise to be on the lookout for cheeky baboons in the parking lot! (more…)
